British Cycling names team for Mexico round of Track World Cup

British Cycling has announced a strong squad for the second round of the 2013/14 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics, which takes place in Aguascalientes, Mexico from 5 to 7 December – including seven riders who won Olympic gold in London last year.Philip Hindes TWC Manchester 2013Great Britain topped the medal table at the end of the opening round in Manchester earlier this month, taking eight in total, four of them gold, and lead the points standings. One standout performer at Manchester – Katie Archibald, who took two medals riding for Scotland’s Braveheart team – steps up to the Great Britain side for Mexico. She took silver in the scratch race and bronze in the individual pursuit, and joins four other women in the endurance squad – Elinor Barker, Dani King, Joanna Rowsell and Laura Trott, who set a new world record in the team pursuit in London. That meet also saw Rowsell win the individual pursuit and Trott the Omnium, while the men’s team pursuit squad – like their female counterparts, the reigning Olympic champions – also took World Cup gold. British Cycling performance manager Shane Sutton commented: “The World Cup in Manchester has given us a steady start to the season – we got some good results there and it also highlighted some aspects the team needs to work on. “We’re keen to build on that in the next round and earn as many qualifying points for the World Championships as we can so we’re sending a strong squad over to Mexico for the next round.” Here’s the Great Britain squad that will compete in Mexico next month: Men’s Sprint Matt Crampton Kian Emadi Jason Kenny Phil Hindes Women’s Sprint Becky James Jess Varnish Men’s Endurance Steven Burke Ed Clancy Jon Dibben Owain Doull Sam Harrison Women’s Endurance Katie Archibald Elinor Barker Dani King Joanna Rowsell Laura Trott

1. Suitable Bicycle
First, you have to get a bicycle which is suitable to your height. If you are junior, you’d better buy a whole bicycle in the store. It’s easy for you to maintain.
2. Suitable Helmet
As an indispensable safety precaution, bike helmet should not be underestimated. Generally speaking, the helmet with higher price may be lighter and have better air-permeability. The size is also a standard: it should be neither small nor big. There should be 2-3cm between your eyebrow and the peak. Make sure that the helmet will not move when you turn around or look up and down.
3. About Cotton T-shirt
Most people believe cotton T-shirts are the best choice. Actually, they will stick on your skin when you sweat off. Bicycle shirts with sweat-absorbent material become your first choice.
4. Sweat-absorbent Gloves
There are different kinds of gloves in different seasons. Some people like to wear lightweight bike gloves to keep from sunburn. In cool days, a pair of padded gloves with air-permeable shell will help keep wind outside. Suitable gloves must be as big as your hand. Your fingers can move nimbly and freely when you wear them.
5. Keep away from Lisle Stockings
Although professional bicycle stockings will cost you more, sport socks are good for your feet. Whether high-tech synthetic socks or wool blended socks, your feet will be happy. Most people like to buy bigger socks. Actually, they will easily raise blisters on your feet.
6. Suitable Bicycle Pants
A professional bicycle pants may take you away from suffering of flesh. At the very beginning, bicycle pants are made of chammy. Nowadays, many of the pants are made of high-tech corduroy and man-made materials. All of these materials are cozy for sensitive skin.
7. Cycling Bags
Professional riding bags are designed according to different riding postures, which can avoid soreness because of the pressure on shoulders.
8. Cycling Glasses
It is really dangerous if insects or eye-winker went into your eyes when you are riding. Ordinary glasses may blur your vision because of the bumpy road. However, riding glasses can effectively prevent strong illumination. You can wear colorless glasses in cloudy days and light yellow glasses at nights.
